Major Victory on Pool Lift Deadline

Our industry has secured a major victory with respect to the ADA Pool Lift Issue. The deadline for compliance is now extended until January 31, 2013.  The US Department of Justice (DOJ) issued its final rule on the notice of proposed rulemaking on the compliance deadline for the ADA Standards for existing pools and spas. The decision notes the 1915 comments were received (1420 in favor of the extension; 495 opposed).  The significant number of comments from our industry and AH&LA coalition partners, our ability to keep up the pressure on the DOJ through Members of Congress, and the overwhelmingly favorable treatment by the media all played a role in this outcome.  Thank you to everyone who contacted your elected officials and submitted comments--your participation truly helped to make this extension happen.
