WHO WE ARE                       The IHG Owners Association represents the interests of owners and operators of more than 3,200 InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) hotels worldwide in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, Mexico and Latin America.  The IHG family of brands include InterContinental Hotels & Resorts®, Crowne Plaza® Hotels and Resorts, Hotel Indigo™, Holiday Inn® Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn Express®, Staybridge Suites® and Candlewood Suites®.

 

MISSION                                The Owners Association supports the long-term interests of the diverse ownership community of IHG hotels and strives to:

Work hand-in-hand with owners to improve the profitability of hotels, strengthen the system, and exchange ideas and best practices

Work globally in partnership with IHG

Support the drive for industry leadership through the delivery of financial performance, guest preference, employee engagement and performance, and environmental responsibility and community involvement

 

HISTORY                               Established by Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson in 1956 as the National Association of Holiday Inns, the Owners Association is the first association of owners in the hotel industry and has been a voice for its members, playing a vital role in communicating with IHG management about issues associated with a franchised hotel operation. The Association works closely with IHG to establish and coordinate standards and programs to marketing and communications strategies.

 

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES                          
Working in collaboration with IHG, the Owners Association has

identified strategic priorities to guide its activities for the next three

to five years:

          • Making IHG brands preferred by guests, owners and colleagues through:
            • Effective use of IHG operating and performance tools
            • Standards that elevate the branded guest experience
            • Making the General Manager the Hotel Brand Manager
          • Embedding corporate responsibility in our business

GOVERNANCE                     IHG Owners Association is governed by Officers and a Board of Directors, which is supported by a global committee structure.  Committee chairpersons are elected to serve a one-year term; Board members are elected to two-year terms.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?          As the IHG Owners Association, our preference is to be referred to by our full name, and not an acronym.  “The Association” or "Owners Assn" is the preferred shorthand, rather than IHGOA.
