HISTORY Established by Holiday Inn founder Kemmons Wilson in 1956 as the National Association of Holiday Inns, the Owners Association is the first association of owners in the hotel industry and has been a voice for its members, playing a vital role in communicating with IHG management about issues associated with a franchised hotel operation. The Association works closely with IHG to establish and coordinate standards and programs to marketing and communications strategies.
Working in collaboration with IHG, the Owners Association has
identified strategic priorities to guide its activities for the next three
to five years:
- Making IHG brands preferred by guests, owners and colleagues through:
- Effective use of IHG operating and performance tools
- Standards that elevate the branded guest experience
- Making the General Manager the Hotel Brand Manager
- Embedding corporate responsibility in our business
GOVERNANCE IHG Owners Association is governed by Officers and a Board of Directors, which is supported by a global committee structure. Committee chairpersons are elected to serve a one-year term; Board members are elected to two-year terms.
PRESIDENT IHG Owners Association’s President is the voice and continuity of the Association, representing the long-term interests of IHG owners around the globe.
WHAT’S IN A NAME? As the IHG Owners Association, our preference is to be referred to by our full name, and not an acronym. “The Association” or "Owners Assn" is the preferred shorthand, rather than IHGOA.
